Thank's to a history that is at least 2,500 years old, modern Lecce is the most important city on the Salento peninsula in Puglia and an important tourist attraction in the area. The 95,000 inhabitants have fortunately not forgotten their roots with their production and sales of olive oil, wine and ceramics. This is still the mainstay of the local economy.
