Our hometown should of course not be missing in this list. Since 1975, the city of Martina Franca has been organizing the annual summer opera festival, the Festival della Valle d'Itria. This guarantees a lot of music, dance and theater on the streets of Martina Franca in the summer months. The city has a particularly beautiful old town surrounded by stone walls with prominent baroque gates that lead to squares and narrow streets. Piazza Roma is the largest square in the old town, opposite the 300-room 17th-century Palazzo Ducale. Thanks to the light-stone buildings, winding alleys and extravagant, ornate baroque decorations, Martina Franca is certainly on beautiful summer evenings of great beauty. the DOP label is stamped. The butcher's shops in the town are more than just a place to buy meat, many are known as fornelli pronti (literally translated ready to cook), where you can eat your purchased goods directly.
